A Short Nigerian Film: Living Funeral to Screen at Cannes

Living Funeral, a short film aimed at creating awareness on breast cancer has been selected to screen at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Udoka Oyeka and produced by Applegazer and KarmaCause Productions with the Pink Pearl Foundation, the film will screen throughout the festival duration at the Short Film Corner.

The Short Film Corner has been described as the essential rendezvous for filmmakers to make meetings reality and take decisive steps for their future careers. Living Funeral, which stars Liz Ameye (nee Benson), Stephanie Wilson and Norbert Young is set against the backdrop of delusional stability. A young girl battling with breast cancer in the last days of her life arranges a farewell for her family to help ease their pain.

The film recently screened at the 2014 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and is also an official selection at the ongoing New York African Film Festival. The film garnered 8 nominations at the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and has been nominated in the Best Short Film Category for the 2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Living Funeral has been selected to screen at the 2014 Durban International Film Festival.
